My name is Dianne Orwig, and I, too, once thought that getting into phenomenal shape would require every ounce of courage, strength, willpower and dedication I could muster. This is my story of how I did it, and how YOU CAN TOO!
I had come to a breaking point. I was sick of making excuses, sick of spending hours in my closet trying desperately to find something that would disguise how I was felt both inside and out. I was sick of feeling frumpy, soft, self-conscious, utterly invisible and totally forgettable.
So, I walked into the gym, at the age 44, after spending years over eating, drinking, and spinning my wheels so hard with work and family, that I didn’t have an ounce of energy or motivation left for myself or anything else.
I remember seeing all the “action” going on in the gym that first day. I remember thinking that everybody there must really know what they’re doing (how could all these people be wrong, right?) and I decided, just like thousands of others before me, to simply follow their lead.
Sure…after months of sacrifice, sweat, denial and deprivation I managed to squeeze off a few pounds…but I was:
Hungry (starving!)
Flabby (no abs to speak of)
Weak (no energy)
And, I was going nowhere fast (totally stalled out)
Then, it finally hit me one day – hit me like a ton of bricks…None of the people I was following were changing!
That realization opened my eyes – it was so clear and palpable – why had it taken me so long to see it? That day, (I remember it like it was yesterday) was the most important day of my life, and from that moment on, everything changed – and changed fast.
I began researching everywhere for anything, anyone who saw what I was now seeing – that there was this small, quiet group of people – people who were in phenomenal shape, doing less work, enjoying themselves, taking time between exercises, doing brief, effective workouts that looked NOTHING like the craziness going on all around them. Workouts that didn’t leave them grimacing in pain, or limping off to the locker room.
This was the leading edge of fitness. I believed it, I could feel it, I wanted to PROVE that it worked, and I wanted to take this LESS WORKS BETTER message to the world, and help people finally discover what I had suspected from the beginning… that for the past 40 years, we’ve been getting it all backwards!!!
This, I knew for certain, was the direction I wanted to go…and it worked!
Through months of research, I found a way – a way to get BETTER results doing less work, focusing more on feeding and nurturing my body rather than trying to beat it into submission.
